Au m\u00eame moment, \u00e0 <strong>Leyde<\/strong>, dans cette Hollande du Si\u00e8cle d\u2019or bouillonnant de nouveaut\u00e9s artistiques et scientifiques, le professeur d&rsquo;anatomie <strong>Johannes Van Horne<\/strong> et le dessinateur <strong>Marten Sagemolen<\/strong> travaillaient \u00e0 un <strong>grand atlas d&rsquo;anatomie<\/strong> des muscles en couleur, sans \u00e9quivalent \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9poque. Bien qu&rsquo;elle soit rest\u00e9e in\u00e9dite, la valeur de cette entreprise fut reconnue par des sommit\u00e9s de l\u2019Europe savante. Puis ces dessins furent, \u00e9tonnamment, <strong>perdus<\/strong> de vue au cours du XVIIIe si\u00e8cle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quatre grands volumes<\/strong>, contenant <strong>251 dessins<\/strong>, syst\u00e9matiquement r\u00e9alis\u00e9s et organis\u00e9s en plusieurs s\u00e9ries et constituant une large partie de cet atlas d\u2019anatomie, viennent d\u2019\u00eatre identifi\u00e9s dans la collection de la BIU Sant\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>La biblioth\u00e8que d\u00e9voile ainsi un nouveau tr\u00e9sor, avec lequel les <strong>historiens de la m\u00e9decine et des sciences<\/strong> devront d\u00e9sormais compter, et qui devrait aussi exciter la curiosit\u00e9 des <strong>historiens de l&rsquo;art<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/numerabilis.u-paris.fr\/medica\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6418-2.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11161\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-11161\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/numerabilis.u-paris.fr\/medica\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6418-2-234x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_6418-2\" width=\"234\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/numerabilis.u-paris.fr\/medica\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6418-2-234x300.jpg 234w, https:\/\/numerabilis.u-paris.fr\/medica\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6418-2-768x986.jpg 768w, https:\/\/numerabilis.u-paris.fr\/medica\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6418-2-798x1024.jpg 798w, https:\/\/numerabilis.u-paris.fr\/medica\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_6418-2.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 234px) 85vw, 234px\" \/><\/a><strong>A Myology by Johannes Van Horne and Marten Sagemolen: four books of original<\/strong> <strong>drawings dated from the Dutch Golden Age discovered at BIU Sant\u00e9 (Paris).<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Identification, provenance, inventory.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em>In 1656 in Amsterdam, Rembrandt was painting his second lesson of Anatomy. At the same time, in Leiden, Johannes Van Horne, the renowned professor of Anatomy, and the painter Marten Sagemolen were working together at an unprecedented type of Anatomia. Despite the fact that the book remained unpublished, it was so innovative that the drawings almost instantly became famous among the European intelligentsia. But, strange as it may seem, they were totally forgotten during the eighteenth century and later on. Four large format sets of drawings for a total of 251 plates, organized in series &#8211; a large part of Van Horne and Sagemolen\u2019s project &#8211; have just been identified in the BIU Sant\u00e9 collection. Today the library is enlightening a jewel and a milestone of significant interest to scholars in the History of Medicine, Sciences and Art.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;identification a \u00e9t\u00e9 effectu\u00e9e gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 <strong>Hans Buijs<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fondationcustodia.fr\/francais\/index.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Fondation Custodia, Paris<\/em><\/a>) le vendredi 17 juin 2016. Or <strong>Tim Huisman<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/openaccess.leidenuniv.nl\/bitstream\/handle\/1887\/12842\/Thesis.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dans sa th\u00e8se de doctorat de 2008<\/a>, <em>The Finger of God, Anatomical Practice in 17th-Century Leiden<\/em> (u<em>niv. de Leyde, 2008. p. 73 sq<\/em>), a \u00e9dit\u00e9 et document\u00e9 ces fragments. C&rsquo;est cette collection c\u00e9l\u00e8bre qui a jet\u00e9 une ombre \u00e9paisse sur la collection aujourd&rsquo;hui remise au jour, et qui en a dissimul\u00e9 l&rsquo;int\u00e9r\u00eat depuis le troisi\u00e8me quart du XVIIIe si\u00e8cle.
