Distilling and extraction devices also became more sophisticated. The use of centrifuge force allowed the very rapid separation of compounds of different densities. Dry starch sieving with oscillating platform machines made possible the production of beauty powders with better granulometry [1]. Research on pharmaceutical pills led to the creation of the first compact powders with less binder, and therefore lighter.

At the time, hand-powered machines for small series and electric machines were both in use. Innovation in the field of preparation methods required new formulas and contributed to the creation of previously unseen kinds of products.
