In makeup, it was the end of nail coloration, replaced by a layer of lacquer. Drawing her inspiration from paints used in the – then booming – car industry, Michèle Ménard invented nitrocellulose-based nail polish, which we still use today, but the nail base remained natural, without any makeup. In 1927, chemist Paul Baudecroux invented an indelible lipstick that did not stain. It constituted a true revolution that paved the way to a new beauty and elegance habit. 1927 was also the year when Houbigant commercialized his first effervescent salt tablets for toilet and bath.
